Catherine McManamon

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

I am a children's SLT with extensive experience working directly with children of all ages. I am enjoying my independent work with families and children alongside my role in the NHS carrying out neurodevelopmental assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

I have been working with children since 2006 and as a qualified SLT since 2010. I work with an array of communication and interaction needs, and have developed expertise and a special interest in working with ASD, selective mutism and complex communication profiles including non-speaking or minimally speaking communicators. In addition, I support children with speech sound disorders, language delay and disorder, stammering and more!

I am passionate about communication and neuro-diversity affirming practice, helping children develop their skills for learning, interacting and participating in the way that suits them as individuals. I love to make therapy as engaging as possible and for this reason I like to bring play into therapy and make activities as child-led and naturalistic as possible.

I work closely with parents and nursery/school staff and am keen to work together as a team with the child. My approach is centred around developing the skills and knowledge of those who interact with the child each day, empowering through the use of coaching principles and collaboration.

I am a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council and a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
